​​”The sun isn't close to rising, and you've already offloaded every last vintage roseToken you won in that cryptoestate sale last week. A temporary hold has been placed on your account. And now a privately-owned, city-contracted driverless vehicle is being dispatched to your coordinates (at your expense) because your eye tracking speed has fallen below the average of your fellow bar patrons' preferences (they're calling you sloppy babe) as agreed to in the TOS. Oh—and you use an ugly interface. It's not just like that in the future, you picked that yourself.”

ONE FATE STUPID features collaborative artworks by Bun Stout and Brittany Sowacke, piecing together narratives, scams and a philosophical internal monologue from a night in a near-future drag bar.

Bun Stout Chicago-based artist whose multidisciplinary artwork mostly lives within queer nightlife, the bus there and back, and the bedrooms, bathrooms and studios of their collaborators. Their practice bridges physical and digital media to tell stories about imaginary futures and catalyze brief experiences of transformation. The resulting artworks are sculpture, video, mixed-reality fashion, and the lived experiences of the wearers themselves.

Stout has spoken about their work at the Kinsey Institute and is a recipient of the Chicago Artist Coalition's ENVISION Grant and DCASE Individual Artist Grant. Exhibitions include interactive installations at Ars Electronica, Cucalorus Film Festival, Currents New Media and the Pacific Northwest College of Art. They received a BFA from Indiana University and MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
