Call for Films: Submit Your Work for Consideration in Our Film Programming
Are you a filmmaker with a captivating story to share? We're inviting submissions for our upcoming film programs, and we want to showcase your work to our audience. Whether you're an emerging talent or an established filmmaker, we welcome diverse voices and perspectives in cinema.
About Us:
Comfort Station activates a historic building with public, community-driven programs that foster vibrant connections at the intersection of art and life.
Since 2011, we have operated out of a 1920s city-owned building that was once intended to be a space for travelers to stay warm while waiting for public transportation. That legacy fuels our mission to act as a porous and public gathering space for a variety of creative communities.
Comfort Film presents screenings of local, national, and international films every Wednesday. Our film programmers closely collaborate with a variety of local cinephile organizations and film festivals to bring debuts by independent filmmakers, niche titles from obscure archives, experimental filmmaking, and more.
Screenings will occur in the months of May, June, July, and September.
Submission Guidelines:
We accept films of all genres, including narrative, documentary, experimental, animation, and more.
Submitted films should be completed with a runtime of up to 120 minutes.
Non-English language films are welcome, but English subtitles must be provided if the dialogue is not in English.
Filmmakers of all backgrounds and experience levels are encouraged to submit their work.
What to Submit:
Please submit the following materials:
Film Screener: Provide a secure online screener link (e.g., Vimeo, YouTube) with password if applicable. Alternatively, you may send a digital file via a file-sharing service (e.g., Dropbox, Google Drive).
Synopsis: Include a brief synopsis of your film (up to 250 words) highlighting its themes, style, and intended audience.
Director's Statement: Share a director's statement (up to 300 words) discussing the inspiration behind the film, its creative process, and any relevant background information.
Director's Bio: Provide a brief biography of the director(s) (up to 150 words) including their previous works and achievements.
Demographics: Our organization is driven by core values of equity, diversity, and inclusion. To that end, we would like to learn more about our artists and contributors so we can learn if and how we are putting this intention into effect. This is for our internal use only.
Please tell us what groups or cultural identities (e.g., race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality, disability, or any other identity) are most reflective of you and your work.
If you are completing this form on behalf of a group, you may answer this individually or collectively, but please indicate that as well.
Deadline for Submissions: Comfort Station will accept submissions throughout the year.
Selection Process:
Our programming team will carefully review all submissions and select films based on their artistic merit, storytelling quality, and thematic relevance to our programming goals. Selected filmmakers will be notified via email.
Note to Filmmakers:
There is no submission fee to apply.
We encourage filmmakers to submit their work early to ensure consideration.
Don't miss this opportunity to share your film with our audience and be part of our exciting film programs. We look forward to experiencing your stories on the big screen!
