Position Overview:

We are seeking  passionate and driven individuals interested in film programming to join our mentorship program. You must be a new or first year programmer to participate or you are in another discipline and just interested in Film Programming. As a participant, you will have the unique opportunity to work closely with experienced mentors who will provide guidance, support, and valuable insights into the art of curating film programs. This position offers flexibility in your schedule while gaining practical experience and advancing your skills in film programming. The Comfort Station will cover the cost of screening rights.

Screenings will take place in April on Wednesday evenings. Each participant will select one Wednesday.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with mentors to gain a deep understanding of film programming principles, audience engagement, and industry trends.

  • Participate in curating film programs for various audiences, considering themes, genres, and cultural relevance.

  • Assist in organizing film screenings, events, and discussions to engage with the community.

  • Research and analyze potential films for inclusion in programming, considering artistic merit and audience appeal.

  • Receive feedback on your programming ideas and proposals, and implement improvements based on mentor guidance.

  • Engage in regular communication with mentors to discuss progress, challenges, and goals.

Qualifications:

  • Passion for cinema and a keen interest in film programming.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to think creatively and critically about film content and programming strategies.

  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote team environment.

  • Experience level: first time or within the first year of film programming work.
