Comfort Music: Juan Flores & Veronica Anne Salinas

Juan Flores is an artist interested in motion and sound as a way of exploring the relationship between control and entropy. His research involves stress testing systems, whether minimal or complex, investigating the transformations that happen during the process of getting from point A to point B. He uses technology to explore magical realism, wonder, and the poetics of the everyday and rare experiences.

He was the recipient of the Mortimer Hays-Brandeis Fellowship for a 1-year residency in Mexico City focusing on sound and electronic arts and received his MFA from the Art & Technology Studies department at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Veronica Anne Salinas is an interdisciplinary artist, curator, educator, writer, and Deep Listener. Her artistic research engages with themes of perceptual shifts, meditations, slow processes, the body, and environments. Her work in sound focuses on soundwalks, field recording, text scores, composition, spatial audio, improvisation, live performance, and Deep Listening practices.

She is a co-founder and curator of Tierras Sonidas, a festival of sound art, a producer at Campbient, and serves on the board of directors for the Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology. www.veronicaannesalinas.com
