8 Hours with Scott
The most boring man alive can’t catch a break. His girlfriend dumped him and now he’s going out for a walk and he doesn’t know when he’ll be back. Trouble ensues. Psychics, bunny slippers and even the most notorious scooter gang in Logan square can’t help Scott become less boring.
8 Hours with Scott is the second feature from Johnny Lange. Each scene was inspired by prompts from Chicago's longest running experimental film club Group 312.
8 Hours with Scott was shot over the course of a little more than a year using mostly available light. Lange used several DV cameras, a broken Sony PD170, a Panasonic PV150 with a bad lens, a spy camera, an inexpensive dash cam and even a Flip cam to bring the grainy, digital, amateur look.
The film is constructed around strict 8-, 4-, and 2-second cuts, with edits landing precisely on the frame as it shifts between cameras. No shot exceeds eight seconds.
