The Good-By Number is a free improvisation trio of Hannah Bureau (violin) Rebekah Dotzel (cello) and Ethan T. Parcell (percussion and clarinets). The Good-By Number plays improvised chamber music equally in touch with Chicago’s robust improvised music tradition and concepts from contemporary composition. The trio has a rigorously rehearsed approach to gestural improvisation, repetition and orchestration and has released two studio albums: The Good-By Number in in 2024 and Public Numbers in 2025.
