Grace Papineau-Couture (Mountain Laurel) is a Canadian multi-media artist based in Chicago. Performing as Mountain Laurel, Grace conjures haunting sonic meditations - weaving together the use of low-fidelity sound objects, analog audio and handmade instruments into extended listening pieces informed by acoustic ecology, examining sites of ecological shift, disaster, and loss. Exalting the low-fidelity and imperfect nature of electroacoustic performances, Grace asks their audience, "what do we hear in the latency? What apparitions reveal themselves to us through the cracks of low fidelity?"
