The Artist Alphabet Mafia is throwing a little party called “Puppetea: a celebration of queer silliness” on April 19th to celebrate 2 years ago. We wanted to make puppets while drinking tea and eating snacks with gay people and that’s what officially started this little clown bit of an org. And now we’re a *checks notes* and established queer arts group with multiple news features?? Anyways, we thought the best way to celebrate how far we’ve come, the amazing people we’ve met, and what we have done as an org is to do one last queer crafting potluck and celebrate the silliest of art forms, puppetry, while we craft and munch together.
Tickets are available now on our Eventbrite and are✨free ✨with an optional donation to help cover performer stipends and event supplies.
🌈Activities will include 🌈
- potluck
-bring your craft
-clown egg painting
-puppet performances
-paper bag puppet-making
-tea serving
Now, about the amazing cohosts
an intentional community of crafters from across the city that regularly hosts bring-your-craft events at a variety of spaces, including cafes, parks, and coworking areas. They are also the older, crafty sibling org of the alphabet mafia, and what we do today would not be possible without them. I feel incredibly honored that we are cohosting this with them.
Chicago’s premier gay puppet performance group that hosts diy theater showcasing puppeteers from a wide variety of disciplines with an emphasis on making their productions accessible and affordable for all
🌈See you gay muppets there!🌈
