Comfort Film Presents
3 Films by William John Willke
With clear influence from the likes of Robert Bresson and Alain Resnais, these three films (1992-1994) by William John Willke interweave poetic narrative with sparse images. A true air of underground, no-money filmmaking and the endearing naivete of experimentation with a new artform imbues these works with a timelessness while situating them within a very distinct time period. Screened on PBS at the time of release, enter a haze of women talking into recorders, dead bodies being discarded, and mid-century modern Texas interiors.
Filmmaker William John Willke will be in attendance.
There will be a Q&A after the film.
Presented by Olivia Willke.
