Balloon Strike is a collaboration between Erik Sowa (drumset, percussion, harmonica) and Miles Allen (clarinet, electric air organs). We base our music around simple melodies and forms, using improvisation to push against them. We use compositions and arrangements to explore and exaggerate the natural distance between the clarinet and drumset. The occasional additions of harmonica and air organ provide a shared timbral center. Balloon Strike is a band you can play for your toddler’s birthday party, or your uncle’s retirement party, or at any rave in the afterlife.
