'Introduction to Digital Synthesis' workshop:

  • Learn the fundamentals of making and shaping sound through VCV Rack, a free software modular synthesizer. We’ll cover the basics of the program’s interface, dig into signal flow and mixing, and explore techniques for creating modulation and changing timbre. Perfect for those curious about modular synthesis, digital music making, and sound design.

  • Requirements:

  • Laptop with the free version of vcvrack 2 installed (we will not have WIFI available during the workshop, so please download ahead of time)

  • Wired headphones

  • 1p-4p

dan's bio:

Dan Derks is part of the day-to-day operations at monome, assembling both instruments and documentation for ways to engage with them. Through their background in education and theater, Dan iterates code through improvisation and collaborative learning, with the goal of building playful and exploratory performance gestures.
