ASSEMBLYWOMXN is a site-specific translation of the worst, poopiest, most feminist, most communist play by the ancient greek comedian Aristophanes, currently in development by the theatre making duo YOUNG KRONES. Comfort Station will host performances of the third and fourth episodes of the play, following the presentation of the first and second at Facility Theatre in May 2024.
ASSEMBLYWOMXN is a work-in-progress. We invite our Comfort Station audience to join us as co-laborers! You will have a chance to warm up with our ensemble, to help us set our stage, and to share your observations about the work. All Comfort Station programming is free and open to the public, so no need to buy a ticket. Just show up!
If you or anyone in your party is in need of accessible accommodations, please use this form to let us know.
III: THE POLICIES opens on an Athens that has just voted to cede control of the city government to womxn. Our charismatic leader Praxagora holds a press conference, taking questions on her plan for a radical left wing populist hedonist communalist redistributive family abolitionist slaveholding gynecocracy.
IV: THE PROPERTY looks in on two regular joes putting their shit in the streets of a new world, wondering aloud how long this whole revolution thing will last.
ASSEMBLWOMXN is supported in part by the Cliff Dwellers Arts Foundation and the Ancient Worlds, Modern Communities Initiative of the Society for Classical Studies.
YOUNG KRONES is a theatermaking duo based in Rogers Park, interested in parties, being young and old, gender insubordination, moving the audience, layering, and power. Keep up with the krones on Instagram @youngkrones.
