Quiet Comfort: Jack Langdon

Bio:

Jack Langdon (b.1994) is a musician, video artist, and writer. His work disintegrates commonplace sounds, images, and narratives—reassembling them in strange constructions. His music is stark and expansive, drawing inspiration from the landscape and folk modernisms of the American Midwest. As a performer, Jack utilizes keyboard and string instruments in improvised and chamber music contexts, with particular focus on creating work for the acoustic pipe organ. Jack has recorded alongside Taylor Ho Bynum, Anthony Vine, Webb Crawford, Kelley Sheehan, and Weston Olencki. He has composed music for Yarn/Wire, Talea Ensemble, Ensemble Dal Niente, Southland Ensemble, Prague Quiet Music Collective, Minnesota Sinfonia, and Ensemble Schallfeld. His writing has been published in Sound American, Shred Magazine, and Cacophony. Jack was raised in Keyeser, Wisconsin and he is a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
