Join us for a discussion of We Both Laughed in Pleasure, the selected diaries of Lou Sullivan. This is a one-off event where we will discuss the text, as well as more generally the life and legacy of Lou Sullivan within the context of contemporary trans issues, trans life, and trans joy.
Lou Sullivan (1951-1991) was a transgender organizer, writer, and advocate. He was instrumental in the transgender rights movement, and founded FTM international, one of the first organizations that was dedicated to community building and resource cultivation for trans men and trans masculine people. Sullivan also co-founded the GLBT Historical Society in San Francisco, wrote extensively on transgender issues, and lived openly as a gay trans man. He was beloved by his community and we continue to feel the effects of his work.
The group discussion will be facilitated by Emrys Brandt. If you have any questions about content, as well as accessibility needs, please contact him at 8houseviz@gmail.com.
