SCAFFOLD presents its March installation by artist Maria Burundarena.
Maria Burundarena is a visual artist from Buenos Aires, Argentina, currently based in Chicago. Maria holds a BFA in Fashion Design from the Universidad de Buenos Aires (FADU) where she also worked as a Lecturer between 2016 and 2018. In 2022 she received an MFA in Fiber and Material Studies from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she is a part-time instructor at the Contemporary Practices Department.
Through her work, Maria uses print media and photography to sublimate narratives into a diverse range of environments and objects such as garments, fibers, sculptures and led screens. Currently focused on site-specific installations, Maria uses light projection, large printed images, reflective materials and light to wrap and contour public and private spaces.
Maria has exhibited in Buenos Aires, Argentina at the Bafici Film Festival, Music Festival Nuestro Tecnópolis, Centro Metropolitano de Diseño, Espacio Cabrera – Universidad de Belgrano, and Panal 361. Her work has also been shown at ZAZ 10, Times Square, New York, Mayfield Gallery in Mana Contemporary and Heaven Gallery in Chicago, Illinois, USA.
