The Chicago Black Artist Union was formed from the vision of multi-instrumentalist Isaiah Collier and choreographer Kennedy Banks with aid of other fellow Black Artist, including the phenomenal Angel Bat Dawid, Julian Otis, Phillip Armstrong and bassist Jeremiah Hunt. The primary objective of this union is to bring together Black creatives within Chicago to create opportunities for each other and build community. The Union serves the communities around Chicago by bringing the arts to neighborhoods that have suffered creative droughts. The community oriented "The Royal Sessions" acknowledges the hidden talents of the area. The idea came from Collier in 2020, “It was created for all of us to come together, no matter the artistic discipline”. The Sessions are meant to share music, dance, visual arts and even theatre throughout Chicago to bring more of those artists and people of the area together through spontaneous improvisation.
