Comfort Society: Understanding Everyday Landscape and Architecture in Chicago Neighborhoods

Even the most mundane elements of our landscape have surprising messages to tell us about ourselves and the ways we live! This fascinating talk will cover hidden meanings of lawn ornaments, gangways, or even the layout of our homes. Vernacular architecture means we’ll talk about buildings that we regular people use, not just those of the rich and famous. Come hear about architecture unique to Chicago, like two-flats and Chicago bungalows. Join us and then visit the Logan Square Farmers Market just outside!

Amanda Scotese is the founder and Executive Director of Chicago Detours, a tour company for curious people. ChicagoDetours' mission is to share stories and places even locals don't know.

Comfort Society is a weekly series that invites attendees to hear a lecture, participate in a workshop, discuss evocative topics, and learn something new every Sunday at 1pm during the farmer's market. Comfort Society is proudly sponsored by Intelligentsia Logan Square.
